A 6-Week Somatic Series at Somatic Wisdom Institute

At the Somatic Wisdom Institute, we understand healing not as fixing the body, but as restoring the body’s innate capacity to regulate, respond, and return to balance.

This 6-week Kundalini Yoga series is offered as a nervous system–supportive practice—one that works skillfully with breath, movement, rhythm, and meditation to strengthen your ability to meet stress without overwhelm, collapse, or disconnection.

The nervous system is the command center of the body. When it is overtaxed by chronic stress, unresolved trauma, or relentless stimulation, we lose access to clarity, choice, and embodied presence. This series is designed to expand capacity—so that life’s demands can move through you rather than hijack you.

Why Kundalini at SWI?

Within SWI, all practices are offered through a somatic and capacity-building lens. Kundalini Yoga, when taught with care and attunement, is a powerful way to:

  • Build resilience in the autonomic nervous system

  • Strengthen the body’s ability to move between activation and rest

  • Support the endocrine system, which works in partnership with the nervous system to regulate mood, energy, and stress hormones

  • Cultivate a felt sense of internal steadiness and coherence

Rather than bypassing the body, this work brings you into it—supporting regulation, integration, and embodied awareness.

What We’ll Be Working With

Over six weeks, this series focuses on balance—between effort and rest, activation and settling, thinking and feeling.

Through carefully sequenced kriyas, breathwork, and meditation, we will:

  • Reinforce the frontal lobes, supporting conscious choice, clarity, and presence

  • Calm the limbic system, reducing reactivity rooted in fear and survival

  • Balance right and left brain functioning, helping emotion and logic communicate rather than compete

  • Work with the autonomic nervous system—learning to consciously access sympathetic (mobilizing) and parasympathetic (restorative) states through breath

  • Support the deeper body–mind connection through meditative practices that integrate physical and subtle anatomy

The goal is not to eliminate stress, but to increase your capacity to hold it—so life no longer feels like it’s spilling you over the edge. As Susanne beautifully names it: moving from a teacup of capacity to a bathtub.

Who This is For:

About Susanne Werblow:

Susanne Werblow is a certified Kundalini Yoga teacher who brings a grounded, trauma-aware, and body-centered approach to healing and self-regulation. Her path to yoga began in 2006 through recovery from chronic back pain, an experience that reshaped her relationship with her body and revealed the power of movement, breath, and awareness to restore balance from within.

Through years of personal practice and teaching, Susanne has seen how Kundalini Yoga supports the nervous system’s natural capacity to regulate, respond, and return to equilibrium. Her classes emphasize breathwork, rhythmic movement, and meditation as practical tools for meeting stress without overwhelm, cultivating clarity, resilience, and embodied steadiness.

Trained at Spirit Rising Yoga in Chicago, Susanne has been teaching Kundalini Yoga since 2013. She is passionate about helping students build sustainable practices that extend beyond the mat and into daily life. Her teaching style is thoughtful, accessible, and attuned to creating a safe, supportive environment where students can reconnect with their innate capacity for balance and vitality.
